A tour of the admin panel

Find your way around your site's admin panel - the sidebar, the home dashboard, the setup guide, the search palette and keyboard shortcuts.

The admin panel is where you run your marketplace: listings, members, payments, pages, design and settings. It lives at /oc-panel on your site’s address (for example yourname.yclas.com/oc-panel), and opens when you sign in as an administrator.

This guide shows what’s where, so you can find any setting in a few seconds.

The layout

The panel has three parts:

  • The sidebar on the left, with every section of the panel. On a phone it’s hidden behind the menu button in the top-left corner.
  • The top bar, with the name of the page you’re on, your site’s status, Visit Your Website and your account menu.
  • The page itself, in the middle.

At the top of the sidebar is a card with your site’s name and address. Clicking it opens My sites in your Yclas account, where you manage your plan and domain. Below it is the search box (Search or jump to…).

The sidebar

Some links only appear once you switch the feature on, and moderators only see the sections their role allows.

The top bar

From left to right:

  • The page title, after your site’s name.
  • Trial countdown — during the free trial, a pill such as 9 days left · Choose a plan (on a phone; on a larger screen the countdown sits at the bottom of the sidebar).
  • Search the guides — searches this Help Centre without leaving the panel.
  • Site live or Maintenance mode — whether visitors can see your site. See Maintenance mode.
  • Visit Your Website — opens your site in a new tab.
  • Your picture — opens the account menu: Edit profile, Support, Documentation, Manage Websites (your sites on yclas.com) and Logout.

The home dashboard

Home gives you a picture of your marketplace at a glance.

The setup guide

For the first 45 days of a new site, the top of the dashboard shows a setup guide with the three steps that matter most:

  1. Create your categories — replace the starter category with the ones your members will browse.
  2. Add your logo — it shows in the header and in your emails.
  3. Post your first 5 listings — the counter shows how many you have (example listings created at sign-up don’t count).

A ring shows how ready your site is, and the button always takes you to the next step. Next to the listing step there’s also Import from CSV if you already have listings in a spreadsheet; see Import listings from CSV.

The guide disappears once all three steps are done. To hide it earlier, click the × in its corner (Hide the setup guide); it stays hidden in that browser.

Key numbers

Four cards compare the selected period with the one before:

Card What it counts
Listing views Views of your listings, with the number of contacts to sellers underneath. If view counting is switched off, this card shows Paid orders instead.
New users Members who signed up and are active.
New listings Listings published, and how many are waiting for review.
Revenue What members paid you (featured listings, memberships, posting fees…), and the number of paid orders.

Choose 7 days, 30 days or 90 days at the top right. Click a card to open the page behind it.

Below the cards you’ll find a chart of the main number, an Activity feed (new listings, sign-ups and payments) and your Recent listings.

Search and jump anywhere (Ctrl K / ⌘ K)

Press Ctrl K (Windows, Linux) or ⌘ K (Mac), or click Search or jump to… in the sidebar, to open the command palette. Start typing and press Enter to go:

  • Actions: Post a new listing, Visit Your Website, Edit profile and Read the guides.
  • Go to: every page in the sidebar, including sub-pages such as Listings › Categories or Settings › Payments.

The search is forgiving: typing a few letters in order is enough, so lcat finds Listings › Categories. Use the arrow keys to move through the results and Esc to close.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts work anywhere in the panel, except while you’re typing in a field.

Keys What they do
Ctrl K / ⌘ K Open or close the search palette.
Esc Close the palette or the mobile menu.
G then H Go to Home.
G then L Go to All listings.
G then U Go to Users.
G then O Go to Orders.
G then S Go to Settings › General.
G then P Go to Pages.
N Post a new listing (on the Home page).
Ctrl S / ⌘ S Save a settings page that has unsaved changes.

Press G, let go, then press the second key within a second or so.

Inside a text editor, Ctrl K keeps its usual job of inserting a link, so the palette won’t open from there.

Saving settings

On settings pages, a bar appears at the bottom as soon as you change something: Unsaved changes, with Discard and Save changes. If you try to leave the page before saving, your browser asks you to confirm.

The admin panel and the member area

Your marketplace has two back offices:

  • The admin panel (this guide) is for you and your team: administrators, moderators and translators.
  • The member area is what every member, including you, uses for their own things: My Listings, My Favorites, Messages, payments and their profile. It uses your site’s design rather than the admin look. See Your profile.

When a member who isn’t on your team opens /oc-panel, they’re taken to their own My Listings page instead.
