Bank transfer, cash and other offline payments

Let members pay you by bank transfer, cash or any method Yclas doesn't connect to, then confirm the payment yourself.

Not every member wants to pay by card. With Alternative Payment you can offer any other way to pay, such as a bank transfer, cash at your office or a local mobile money service. Members see your instructions at checkout, pay you outside the site, and you mark the order as paid when the money arrives.

It works for everything members pay you for: featured listings, bring to top, pay to post, membership plans and eWallet top-ups. It isn’t offered for Buy Now purchases, where the buyer pays the seller.

Set it up

  1. Go to Pages and create a page with your payment instructions, for example Pay by bank transfer. Include your bank details and ask members to use their order number as the payment reference. See Pages.
  2. Go to Settings › Payments.
  3. In Payment methods, choose that page in Alternative Payment.
  4. Click Save changes.

At checkout, members now see a button named after your page. Clicking it opens your instructions in a pop-up. The button appears next to any other payment methods you have, so members can still pay by card if they prefer.

To turn it off, set Alternative Payment back to Deactivated.

Keep the page title short and clear, because it is the button label: Bank transfer works better than How to pay us by bank transfer.

What to put on the instructions page

  • How to pay: bank name, account holder, IBAN or account number, and SWIFT/BIC for international payments.
  • The reference to use: the order number, shown on the checkout page and in the member’s My Payments list.
  • How long it takes you to confirm, for example within one working day.
  • How to contact you if they have paid but nothing happened.

Confirm a payment

When the money arrives:

  1. Go to Orders and open the Unpaid tab, or search for the order number or the member’s email.
  2. Open the order’s menu (the three dots) and click Mark as paid, then confirm.

The order turns to Paid with the payment method Cash, and whatever the member bought is applied at once: the listing is featured or published, or the plan starts. You can also click Mark as paid on the checkout page itself while signed in as an administrator or moderator.

Unpaid orders stay in Orders until you mark them as paid. For orders about a listing (featured, bring to top, pay to post), Yclas emails the member a reminder two days later with a link back to the checkout (the new-order email in Email templates).
