Deals on listings

Let sellers and businesses add limited-time offers to their listings, shown with a Deal badge and collected on a Deals page.

Deals let a seller put an offer on their listing: 10% off your first visit, Free delivery this month, Two for one on Tuesdays. Visitors see them on the listing and on a Deals page that collects every running offer on your site, which gives them a reason to come back. They work well on a business directory, where shops and restaurants want to bring customers through the door, but any seller can use them.

Deals are separate from coupons, which take money off a payment on your site. A deal is an offer the seller honours themselves, in their shop or with their own checkout.

Deals are off until you switch them on, and they show with the Nova theme.

Switch deals on

  1. Go to Settings › General.
  2. In Access & privacy, switch on Deals.
  3. Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom.

If the switch is greyed out with Set by Yclas support for your site., ask us through Support to change it.

How sellers add a deal

On their own published listing, the seller clicks Add a deal to your listing (or Manage your deals once they have one) and fills in:

Field What it’s for
Title The offer, up to 120 characters, for example 10% off your first order.
Terms (optional) The small print, for example One per customer. Not with other offers.
Code (optional) A code customers give the seller, such as WELCOME10: letters, numbers, - and _.
Ends on The last day of the offer, at most 90 days ahead.

They click Add deal. A listing can have up to 3 deals running at a time, and the seller can Remove one at any time. A deal disappears by itself after its end date.

What visitors see

  • On the listing: a Deals section with each offer, its terms and its end date. A deal with a code has a Show code button: the code appears when the visitor clicks it.
  • On listing cards: a Deal badge, in results and lists, while the listing has a running deal.
  • On the Deals page: every running deal on your site, at /deals on your domain. Add it to your menu so visitors find it.

Each click on Show code is counted. On the seller’s Deals page each offer shows code shown N times, a simple measure of interest.

If one of your categories has the web address name deals, the Deals page doesn’t open, so the category keeps its address.
