AI page builder

Describe a page in your own words and AI builds it with your own listings in it, then edit every section, preview it and publish when you're happy.

Starter, Professional and Marketplace plans

The AI page builder designs your site’s pages for you. Describe what you want in your own words, such as “make the home page look more premium, with a darker hero and rounder cards” or “create an About page with our story and a FAQ”, and the AI designer builds it with your own listings, categories and sellers in it. You then edit every section yourself, preview it on a computer, tablet and phone, and publish it when you like it.

The page builder is included in the Starter, Professional and Marketplace plans. It isn’t part of the free trial. It works with the Nova theme. Copying a design from a website link and custom code sections come with the Professional and Marketplace plans.

Open the page builder

Click AI page builder in the admin panel sidebar, at the top of the AI section. It opens the Studio, a full-screen editor with your site in the middle. Back to admin returns to the panel.

If your plan doesn’t include it, the same link opens the AI page, where the page builder card has a See plans link. See Compare plans.

Build with the AI designer

  1. In AI designer, type what you’d like to change, or click one of the ideas.
  2. Press Enter. The AI works on a draft and shows the result in the preview.
  3. Ask for more changes in the same way, or change things yourself (below).

To talk about one part of the page, click it first. Each section also has Ask the AI about this section and a button that asks for three different versions of it, so you can pick the one you like.

Nothing you or the AI change is live until you publish. Your visitors keep seeing your current site.

Change things yourself

Tab What you can do
Sections Click any section of the page to change it. Type straight into texts, drag a section to move it, or use + on its edge to add one. Add section offers ready-made sections, and blocks you saved.
Style Colours, fonts, corners and spacing for the whole site, or Start from a look: a ready-made style with a whole home page laid out for you.
Pages Your site pages: add a New page, change page texts, search titles and the social share image. You can also add, rename or remove categories and locations; their addresses stay the same.
History Earlier versions of your design. Bring any of them back.

At the top, Undo and Redo step through your changes, and Desktop, Tablet and Phone switch the preview. Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) to search for any action, page or section.

Changes you make by hand don’t use your AI allowance. Only requests to the AI do.

Publish

  1. Click Publish. The builder checks your draft first and lists anything to look at, such as placeholder text left in or a link with no address.
  2. Fix what it finds, or confirm with I checked it: publish.

Your design goes live straight away. You can also Schedule it for a later date, or Share a preview: a link that shows your draft to anyone who has it, for 7 days, without logging in.

To go back to the standard Nova design, open History and click Unpublish on the live version. Your versions are kept, so you can publish one again later.

Once a design is published, the theme options and settings it controls (such as the home page texts, or your site name) show Managed in the page builder: change it there, or publishing the design again replaces it. Change them in the Studio. See Theme options.

Monthly allowance

Each request to the AI designer counts as one AI design edit:

Plan AI design edits a month
Starter 30 in your first month, then 15
Professional 75
Marketplace 150

The page builder card on the AI page shows how much of this month’s AI you’ve used and when it resets on the first of the month.

Good to know

  • The page builder designs Nova. If your site uses another theme, the Studio says so, and visitors see your design only once you switch to Nova.
  • Right-to-left languages such as Arabic work: sections lay out from right to left. See Right-to-left languages.
  • Some sections fill themselves with your own data: your newest or featured listings, categories, places and sellers.
  • The vehicles, property and jobs packs and directory mode add their own sections, such as a mortgage calculator or a vehicle search, when they’re on.
